While attending Decompression in 2007 the artist participated in an activity involving drums. Three drums were set up for passerbys to play if they desired. While playing the instruments it was the artist's strong belief that a sort of invisible connection was being made between the various participants. This idea was validated when the drumming stopped and other participants conversed about this theory in agreement with the artist.
Each individual drum is to vary in structure in much the same way people do, thus the materials used will differ. However I will explain the properties of the first drum built, since it inspires the architecture of the others.
The main part of the sculpture is made from an industrial paper drum. The drum is turned upside down so that the opening faces the floor; the drum's top becomes the drum's bottom. This section was spray-painted with yellow stars, white clouds, and strand of electrical cord over top a blue surface. Wrapped around the sides of the sculpture is blue wire that reacted to the sound of the drum. A power source and device to sense sound is enclosed inside the drum.
The drum sticks are quite simply two wooden dowels with socks and rubber bands at the tips.
Several of these drums will be created and positioned among an area filled with willing participants. The relativity of each structure is important; some drums will be close to one and other and some will not. The participants in this Conceptual art project will each man a drum and play it.

Between the Lines
The main focus here is to see if a connection between the participants can be made via only the instruments provided. Speaking, signaling, etc will not be used to communicate during the experiment. Only the energy created by the drums will be used to transmit ideas and/or feelings.
